The Brave Artists Club is a family art experience featuring a variety of artistic activities and mediums taught by illustrators, cartoonists, painters, potters, leatherworkers, and writers who are part of the Rabbit Room community. We hope this fun, eclectic journey will spark imagination, camaraderie, and creative courage.

*During the coronavirus pandemic, this class is currently offered for free with the generous sponsorship of the Rabbit Room and Pathwright.

Recommended age level:

Designed especially for families to do together, it is appropriate for all ages (though some activities are more geared towards younger kids, some older). Use your own parental discretion about which activities are suitable and safe for your kids. Those under 10 may need extra assistance.

Materials needed:

Almost all the activities in this class are adaptable to whatever art supplies you already have around your house (pencils, pens, crayons, markers, white paper, scissors, glue, etc.)
One exception is the watercolor activity, for which you'll need a set of watercolor paints (a kid's pan set is fine) and brushes
Several activities have worksheets to download and print

About the class format:

Since this is a self-paced course, it does not necessarily include individual feedback from the teachers. There is, however, a community forum which allows families to post their art for others to see, and to encourage each others' art. IMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS: THIS FORUM WILL NOT BE MONITORED BY THE TEACHERS, though they may pop in occasionally. Please supervise your family's use of this feature, and notify us immediately if you see any inappropriate content.

*For all children under 13, a parent must register them using the parent's own email address. Because this class has a discussion forum visible to all registrants, do not use your child's name or photograph--instead, use a general profile name for the whole family, such as \"Smith Family,\" or invent a fun pseudonym. If you are going through the class as a family, you only need to register ONCE. No need to have separate accounts for each family member.

This class is self-paced. Students can start whenever they want, work at their own pace, and take as long as they like to finish.
Each lesson (10 total) includes video instruction from the teacher and a series of creative activities that should take approximately 1-2 hours to complete.
